2. In the first half of class, in jigsaw groups, we will:
- Share translations of and excerpt of THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
- Find textual evidence in the excerpt that reflects the five democratic ideals below
- limited government
- natural rights
- social contract
- popular sovereignty
- republicanism
- You will take notes on page 20 of the Week 2 packet on the handout that looks like THIS: DEMOCRATIC IDEALS AND DECLARATION CHART.
2. In the second half of class - 20 minutes, using your notes from class and the Declaration, complete the FRQ on the PAPER handout given in class that looks like THIS: FRQ DEMOCRATIC IDEALS AND DECLARATION.
HOMEWORK:
- WATCH: Democratic Ideals in the Declaration of Independence ...REFLECT: How do you think you did on the FRQ?
- For reading and lesson preview, WATCH : "Introduction to Democracy and its Variations"
- Read pages 21-25 "TYPES OF DEMOCRACIES" in the Week 2 Packet
- Complete pages 26-30 "Applying the Models of Democracy " in the Week 2 Packet. Identify the Democratic Model in each example and then choose 3 cartoons, 3 quotations, and 3 scenarios and explain your choice of model.
- FYI- YOUR PACKETS WILL BE COLLECTED FRIDAY FOR PRACTICE POINTS
- DON'T FORGET TO STUDY 1.1.,1.2, AND 2.1 FOR A READING QUIZ FRIDAY!
