E-LEARNING WILL CONTINUE ON APRIL 6TH!

I know many of you have questions about what is happening after Spring Break...

If you have not checked the Leyden Website - Please be aware that E-LEARNING WILL continue after SPRING BREAK!

On Monday, April 6th, the district will provide a lesson for ALL students and review the updated E-LEARNING expectations which the Illinois State Board of Education will not release until March 31st.  So we are all waiting for these new directives

I have been instructed to plan for E-LEARNING at least until April 17.  This is all I know.  ...this may be long term ...for good reason... so people prepare yourself and get a positive mindset about it!

If you or your parents/guardians have questions or concerns please voice them on a survey sent to your email from Mr.Markey.

S2 - DAY 51/52: MARCH 20/23 BLOCK - CH12 ASSESSMENT & ON TO CH 13: THE NEWS MEDIA

Hi Everyone!  Hope you have had an AWESOME Extended E-Learning Week and have gotten into a good routine!  Check up on those grades and let me know if I'm missing something... Stay alert for a google chat tone today and/or keep an eye out on your e-mails this weekend  - I'd like to touch base with you all individually! Ms.Ryan

1. CHECK your grades in HAC:
  • Please be sure you have completed UNIT 3&4 Progress Checks in AP Classroom which were due before March 13! These scores are hurting many of your grades and PROGRESS REPORTS are due Monday morning!
  • U7 FRQ score will be input today - there will be NO corrections, however I will give you a 5 point curve on your scores in place of the +5 you would earn through corrections
  • If you have any "paper" missing assignments please take a picture on your phone and send it to yourself or me through email - check "share" settings"
2. SUBMIT Chapter 12 notes and activities. By now you should have completed Chapter 12 notes.  If you'd like 100 practice points, share the document if it is digital or spread out 4-6 pages on the floor and take a picture or two...there is no need to send 10-12 pictures...then email me the attachments.  If you do not submit you will receive an "E" which will not hurt your grade....remember this will only help your grade.

3. COMPLETE Chapter 12 Assessment on AP CLASSROOM - OPEN NOTES!: ...this is really important since there is word that AP tests which have been paid for may be done at a scheduled time REMOTELY, possibly at HOME on your devices! ...make sure you login and get comfortable on the site...
  • Go to:  https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/ and login...if you forgot your login, I can send you your AP ID# but you still need to call the College Board at 866-315-6068...
  • COMPLETE the assignment "CH 12 MCQ QUIZ" DUE MONDAY, MARCH 23 AT MIDNIGHT - QUIZ WILL LOCK UP
  • COMPLETE the assignment "CH 12 FRQ QUIZ"...you only need to complete 2 questions...if you do all 4 you will get more practice credit to raise your grade! DUE MONDAY, MARCH 23 AT MIDNIGHT - QUIZ WILL LOCK UP
4. READ and TAKE NOTES FOR Chapter 13: The News Media.  You will have a similar, shorter assessment in AP CLASSROOM assigned to you on Tuesday.  Here's Chapter 13 slides to help you:

JUST CHECKING IN....IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR GRADES...

I HOPE TO CHECK IN WITH EACH ONE OF YOU BY FRIDAY...BUT IN THE MEANTIME PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW....

I will be checking in late work and everything turned in to me before Friday March 13, before E-Learning.  This grade will be your OFFICIAL PROGRESS REPORT GRADE.  If you owe me AP classroom quizzes or other work from before March 13th please complete those and send them to me by FRIDAY, March 20!  I will give you the opportunity to complete UNIT 7 FRQ CORRECTIONS before Friday so check your emails and the blog before then.

With e-learning assignments, your grade for class for cannot go below the Progress Report Grade BUT your grade can be improved on.  As of now until March 30th, E-LEARNING WORK CAN ONLY HELP YOUR GRADE NOT MAKE IT GO LOWER!  However, please keep in mind that all of you are required to take the AP TEST still scheduled for May 4th.  This is the FINAL Unit in preparation for that so you might not want to squander the opportunity to get ready for this.  After we finish the unit, and after SPRING BREAK, we plan on will be providing a lot of REVIEW work and you will have a long-term CIVIC ENGAGEMENT project to complete to end the year...  BUT...just so you understand...

EXAMPLE: If you have a "B" on Progress Reports issued Monday, March 23rd, an E-Learning assignment grade CANNOT make that grade go lower only higher.  So if you complete enough work to raise your grade to an "A" you will earn the "A."  If you DO NOT complete the work your grade will stay as a "B."

EXAMPLE: If you have an "F" on Progress Reports issued Monday, March 23rd, AND if you do nothing, your grade will remain an "F".  If you complete make-up work and your e-learning assignments you CAN raise your grade and pass!  This is the policy until March 30th.  SO, IF THIS IS YOU - GET YOUR WORK DONE!

As of now this is the information we have been given.

I do not know if there will be changes to E-Learning, grading, or school after March 30th.

I do not know if the College Board that administers AP tests will keep,  postpone, or cancel the AP tests.

All I know is that we do not have to make up the school days for the 2 weeks we are home, and your grades as of March 13 are valid and will be "official" so I am taking great care to make sure they are accurate.

Please check your grades carefully on Friday and make sure there are no discrepancies. Please email me any questions or concerns.

THANKS!  MISS YOU ALL! ...AND THAT'S THE TEA! :)
Ms. Ryan

At the end of the week I will have a digital assessment on Chapter 12 for you you complete and submit.
